What are Egg Intolerance Symptoms?

ANSWERS—there is an overlap between general intolerance and allergic response to eggs. There are only two ways to find out what your immune system involvement is and those are either by testing or having a severe allergic response. The symptoms can vary from person to person when it comes to intolerance to a food and also from exposure to exposure. It depends on the quantity of the food that is consumed.   • Abdominal pains including nausea and stomach cramps, belching
  • Aches and pains in your muscles and joints including joint stiffness
  • Bloating in your stomach and after eating
  • Arthritis
  • Constipation or diarrhea or foul smelling gas, or being gassy
  • General fatigue or chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Fluid retention
  • Headaches including migraines
  • Skin problems like rashes, itching, scaly skin
  • Weight loss
  • An abnormal thirst
  • Always feeling hungry or having a poor appetite or hungry between meals
  • Bad breath
  • Cravings for coffee, salt, sweets, or coffee
  • Dry eyes, nose, skin, or mouth
  • Heartburn
  • Indigestion after eating
  • Itchy feet, ears, or eyes
  • Have a sour stomach often
  • Swelling in your ankles, feet, and eyelids
  • Cramping
  • Vomiting
  • Asthma signs like coughing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness

The most common reaction is having hives. You can have a severe allergic reaction that can be a life threatening emergency that will require an immediate epinephrine shot plus a trip to your local emergency room. Some of the symptoms of an allergic reaction include:

  • Any constrictions of your airway which can include your throat feeling swollen or feeling like you have a lump in your throat. Anything that make it hard for you to breath.
  • Pain or cramping in your abdomen
  • Having a rapid pulse
  • Going into shock which includes a drop in your blood pressure that is severe which is felt as lightheadedness, loss of consciousness, or dizziness.

If you think you or anyone in your family is allergic or has intolerance to eggs you should talk to your family physician about it to what you should do. If your physician feels you or anyone in your family might have a severe reaction to eggs, they may prescribe an epinephrine pen to carry with them for an emergency.
