ANSWERS—normally the veins in the penis will be the color blue. There may come a time when you notice what you might think is a vein that suddenly appears where there was not one before. This unusual hard vein in penis may also have swelling, especially around the head.
This is often referred to as a lymph channel inflammation. These channels will normally follow near the vessels but unfortunately the lymph system does not have any way to move the liquid which can cause these channels to be irritated especially underneath the head of the penis.
Some causes of this irritation can be:
- Vigorous sexual activity
- Prolonged masturbation
- Even confinement in tight underwear or any type of clothes.
This inflammation is usually followed by discomfort and maybe pain. This will usually happen if it is handled a lot. You can have severe or mild swelling. When you go to your physician they may prescribe a regimen of a high dosage of an anti-inflammatory medication for a certain period of time, which might or might not help. You should not try to take any over the counter anti-inflammatory medication without consulting your physician.
Treatment
In addition to the anti-inflammatory medication your physician might or might not prescribe, you need to not touch the area as much as possible. This means for approximately a week after it looks to be totally healed you may not engage in sexual intercourse or masturbation. If the area is aggravated you may cause the swelling to persist longer or get worse.
These inflammatory conditions will normally disappear without any treatment from the physician but it can take two to six weeks for the inflammation and swelling to disappear. You need to make sure that you give enough time for it to totally heal so it does not immediately come back.
